The Repnation version of Boost 350’s, just got “boosted”, for real. Check out the new boost and the rest of the new shoe, after the break…
We’ll start with the new boost. It feels good. It looks good. It doesn’t look retail, but really close. Closer than Helen’s 4th version. There are still improvements to be made here, but it’s as good as it needs to be, to be considered the best.
They have done something to this sole to make it more of a matte finish, but now it’s not smooth. It has a grit to it. While glossy soles are an easy, dead giveaway of most replicas, the texture of this sole will make you do a double take.
What’s more, while the base sole color now looks correct and the finish looks matte, like retails, the insert in the bottom of the sole is a different color and stands out.
Someone described the patches as “shiny” once to me. Now I see what they are talking about. Where the logos are branded into the suede patches, it’s being done in a way that makes the material hard and shiny. I think it’s hardly noticeable, but others think ti’s obvious.
The fit is a real problem all of a sudden. In the past, the Repnation version has fit like a glove. Identical to the retail version, in almost every way. These shoes are large, maybe a full size bigger than they should be. As usual, when a shoe doesn’t fit well, it doesn’t feel well. That’s my verdict on these.
The laces are a step back, but they’ve always been a problem. They still have the ridge where the stitching runs down the center of the shoe. It does curve correctly and looks great, but the ridge is noticeable.
The prime knit still feels great. Best we’ve tested.
One other note, the paper in the box is finally getting some attention. It’s great. It was folded nicely around the shoes, not just layed in the bottom of the box like other suppliers. That’s attention to detail that we aren’t used to seeing.
Overall, these are great shoes if you love the boost.
